The Story Behind Greater Good[s]
In spring 2019, the doors of Greater Goods opened in Etowah, TN. It’s a unique concept in thrift shopping where one pound of clothing only costs $1.99. Proceeds from every single pound sold supports CSCET and contributes to the “Greater Good.”
In 2018, Beth Boline was diagnosed with breast cancer. “My positive diagnosis came just 6 months after I received a negative MRI result. As I underwent several surgeries, I was surrounded by loving friends and the unwavering love and support of my spouse. I was grateful that I was able to concentrate on my recovery instead of the financial concerns that burden so many families without insurance. After my treatment, I wanted to do good, and set out to use the resources I had right in front of me to help.”
Greater Good’s inventory comes from Knoxville’s Planet Xchange (PX) – Beth’s store since 1996. When items are donated by a PX customer, or merchandise exceeds its “shelf life” – it is brought to Greater Goods to sell. Those items are now contributing to the greater good by sharing the profits derived from them with a great cause.
“In only a few months we’ve given CSCET over $600. We appreciate all of our customers for supporting others in their struggle by supporting us.”
