The Cancer Support Community provides psychological, educational, and social support services for cancer patients, their families and friends at no charge. Our programs helps cancer patients focus on quality of life, reduce stress and regain control of their lives. Services include support groups led by licensed psychotherapists, stress management sessions, educational workshops and social events. The Cancer Support Community's program is an adjunct to conventional medical treatment.
In The Cancer Support Community's home-like community-based setting, people affected by cancer can actively participate in free programs including:
- Professionally-led, weekly support groups.
- Educational workshops.
- Nutrition classes.
- Stress reduction and movement classes.
- Professionally-guided relaxation and visualization sessions.
- Yoga.
- Cancer-specific and networking groups.
- Resource library.

The First Step: New Member Orientation
(Tuesdays, 5:00-6:00pm or by appointment)
Drop in and learn about The Cancer Support Community's programs and services. This meeting is recommended for all adults with cancer and their loved ones coming to The Cancer Support Community for the first time. All are invited to share their stories or just listen and meet others dealing with cancer.
Weekly Groups
Weekly Groups for people with cancer and/or family members are the heart of The Cancer Support Community's program. Adult group members of different ages and with different types of cancer come together each week to support one another. These ongoing, two-hour support groups require a commitment and are led by licensed psychotherapists.
Joining a weekly group requires attendance at a Newcomers meeting and a brief interview.
Oak Ridge Breast Cancer Networker
First Thursday, 6-7:30pm, The Networker meets in the Resource Room on the 2nd Floor of the Thompson Cancer Survival Center, 102 Vermont Avenue, Oak Ridge. PLEASE NOTE: The ORBCN time and dates will change in 2013 from the first Tuesday of the month to the first Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The new dates will be Thursday, January 3 and Thursday, February 7, 2013. For women who have or have had breast cancer to share information and support.
Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma Networker
This drop-in group is open to those with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and myeloproliferative disorders and their support persons. Members will be able to exchange information, discuss concerns and experiences.
